Ulysses was a King of Ithaca - and a brave and cunning hero in Greek mythology. The blue and black Ulysses Butterfly is symbolic and perpetuates bravery and heroics. The colour blue is symbolic of bodies of water, and the colour black symbolizes highways and roads. Metamorphosis is a Greek word that means to transform. The change that occurs in the life cycle of a butterfly is the most striking example of transformation. The people of Vancouver Island are surrounded by bodies of water and are bound together by highways and roads. The goal of R.R.I.D. is transform Vancouver Island into an ...IMPAIRED DRIVER FREE ZONE...For these reasons, R.R.I.D. has chosen the Ulysses Butterfly as its symbol. |
